Hey, I'mCharlottedesigner

A Senior Designer who loves solving problems - whether that's untangling a complex user flow, building a brand from scratch, or figuring out why that button just doesn't feel right.

Based in East Midlands

My Story

I've been designing for over 10 years now, and in that time I've worked across SaaS products, websites, UX/UI, branding and marketing campaigns. It's a lot of variety, but it's taught me the same lesson over and over: good design isn't really about how something looks. It's about understanding the problem, the people using it, and finding something that actually works, for them and for the business.

I like being in the mix with product managers, developers and marketing, honestly some of my best work has come out of those active cross-team conversations. But I'm just as happy taking a problem and running with it myself. I know when a project needs a room full of people, and when it just needs me and a laptop.

Design's been a constant through a fair few different industries for me now, and I'm still enjoying finding out what it looks like in the next one.

What I Believe In

Follow the evidence, not the hunch

I'd rather let what's actually happening guide a decision than assume I already know. When a direction changes, it's because something in the data pointed there first.

Build it to find out if it works

A screen tells you how something looks, not whether it works. I like getting to a real, testable prototype early, so decisions get checked against something real rather than staying theoretical.

Design the system, not just the screen

One-off screens don't scale. I'd rather build the underlying system once, tokens, components, a shared reference for colour and type, than rebuild the same pattern every time it's needed.

How I Work

  1. 01

    Evidence before assumption

I'd rather follow what the data shows than guess. When a decision changes direction, it's because something in the numbers pointed there first, not because it felt right.

  2. 02

    Systems over one-offs

New screens shouldn't mean starting from zero. I build the underlying system, tokens, components, a shared reference, once, so consistency doesn't depend on rebuilding the same pattern every time.

  3. 03

    Prototype to de-risk

For anything unfamiliar, I'll build a working prototype before asking engineering to commit time to it.
